About the role
- As a Lecturer in English (Functional Skills), you will deliver high-quality teaching to learners across a range of programmes, helping them to build confidence and competence in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
- You will play a key role in improving student outcomes, contributing to curriculum development, and creating an engaging and inclusive learning environment that supports all learners to achieve their full potential.
- Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and deliver engaging Functional Skills English lessons
- Develop and adapt learning materials to meet diverse learner needs
- Assess student work and provide constructive feedback
- Monitor and track student progress to support achievement and retention
- Maintain accurate academic and administrative records
- Act as a personal tutor, providing academic and pastoral support
Skills, knowledge and expertiseessential
- A degree or relevant qualification in English or a related subject
- Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
Experience delivering functional skills or gcse english
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to motivate and inspire learners of varying abilities
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and safeguarding
Experience working in a further education setting
- Knowledge of current Functional Skills curriculum and assessment
Experience supporting learners with additional needs
- Teaching Qualifications & Salary Banding
- To be eligible for our Qualified Lecturer salary banding (£31,837 - £48,160), you must hold one of the following teaching qualifications:
