Account Information

When you create an account through Clerk, we receive your name, email address, and profile photo (if provided). Clerk handles password storage and authentication securely on our behalf.

Email Subscriptions

If you subscribe to job alerts or newsletters, we store your email address and subscription preferences. This data is used exclusively for sending you the communications you requested.

User-Submitted Content

Content you submit, such as job postings, resumes, and profile details, is stored in our database hosted on Neon (PostgreSQL). This content may be visible to other users depending on your settings.

Payment Information

Payments are processed through PayPal. We do not store credit card numbers or bank account details. We may store transaction IDs, purchase amounts, and order history for record-keeping.

Usage Data

We may collect basic usage data such as pages visited, time on site, and referral sources. This helps us understand how the platform is used and improve the experience.

ESL Careers uses cookies for essential functionality, including authentication sessions managed by Clerk. We may also use analytics cookies to understand site traffic. You can disable non-essential cookies in your browser settings, though this may affect some features.

5. Third-Party Services

We share data with the following third-party services as needed to operate the platform:

  • Clerk - Authentication and user management. Clerk stores your login credentials and profile data under their own privacy policy.
  • PayPal - Payment processing. PayPal handles all financial transactions and stores payment details under their own terms.
  • Resend - Email delivery. Your email address is shared with Resend to send transactional and marketing emails.
  • Neon - Database hosting. Your data is stored on Neon PostgreSQL servers with encryption at rest.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Data is shared only as described above or when required by law.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days. Some data may be retained longer if required for legal or financial record-keeping.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Opt out of marketing communications

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication through Clerk, and encrypted database storage through Neon. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection.

10. Children

ESL Careers is not intended for users under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice on the platform. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
