We're a primary school in Hangzhou looking for a native English speaker to teach oral English to Grades 1-3. This is a pretty sweet gig: no office hours, less than 15 teaching hours a week, and you get to actually have fun with the kids instead of just drilling textbooks. Can I teach in China without two years of experience?
The standard is more than two years of language-education experience, but it is waived with a bachelor's in education or language, a teaching certificate from your own country, or a qualified international language teaching certificate, so many first-time teachers still qualify. Without either, a Z visa is not available. Some teachers enter on tourist visas and work informally, but this is illegal, getting caught means deportation, and reputable schools won't hire you that way.
