Translation mode vs. communication mode
Many English learners mentally translate from their native language during interviews. This creates a delay, leads to unnatural phrasing, and drains mental energy. The shift: instead of translating word-by-word, focus on communicating the IDEA. It doesn't matter if you use different words than you would in your native language. what matters is that the interviewer understands your point.
Word-by-word: "I have the responsibility of managing the team of five persons."
Translated. grammatically OK but stiff.
Idea-first: "I manage a team of five."
Natural, clear, confident.
Tip
Shorter sentences are your friend. They're easier to construct, easier to understand, and they sound more confident.
