ESL Careers market context
How this pay compares in Thailand
This listing vs. the local range
฿45,000 / month sits at the upper end of the 30k to 45k THB per month our Thailand guide lists for government schools. It also falls inside the range we publish for bilingual schools.
Living costs in Bangkok
Roughly 12,000 to 30,000 THB a month for a one-bedroom condo, widening fast the closer you get to a central station. Thailand pays less relative to cost than Vietnam, so most teachers here live well and save little.
Who the Thailand market suits
Teachers prioritizing lifestyle, climate, and travel access. Not optimal if your goal is paying off student loans fast.
Can I start on a tourist visa and convert?
Whether an in-country status change is possible depends on your circumstances and current immigration rules. Confirm the route with Thai immigration and your school before travel. A tourist status does not itself authorize teaching work.
