Key responsibilities
- In this role you will deliver high-quality teaching and learning to ESOL students, preparing engaging and appropriate teaching materials to meet the individual needs of students and the requirements of their courses.
- Please note that this is a temporary, hourly paid position to provide cover for medium- to long-term sickness.

This is the deciding factor, and for most non-UK teachers the answer is no. English language teaching is not a role UK language schools generally sponsor: the Skilled Worker visa needs a licensed sponsor and a salary threshold that EFL pay usually sits below, so a job offer alone is not a route in.
Do I need a CELTA?
In practice yes. A CELTA or Trinity CertTESOL is the baseline for British Council accredited schools, and an online-only TEFL certificate will not get you past the first filter. For university pre-sessional work you will usually need a DELTA or a master's on top.
