Teach English in Medellín, Colombia
Eternal-spring climate and a strong expat scene.
Medellín has become a magnet for digital nomads and ESL teachers in the past five years. The market is smaller than Bogotá's but growing fast. El Poblado and Laureles are the expat neighborhoods.
Neighborhoods
El Poblado for the expat and remote-worker concentration, and the highest prices in the city. Laureles for a more local, flatter and cheaper base that most long-termers move to. Envigado for quiet and families. Belén for real local pricing.
Cost of living
Roughly 1.2 to 3 million COP a month for a one-bedroom, with El Poblado priced well above everywhere else. The climate genuinely is mild year round, which is most of why the city fills up.
Best for
Teachers who want a strong expat community, perfect weather, and lower cost of living than Bogotá.

Salary: Language institutes: 1.8M to 3M COP per month. Universities: 2.5M to 4.5M COP. Corporate contracts: 30k to 60k COP per hour. Cost of living is among the lowest in popular ESL markets.
Visa: Sponsored teaching positions use the employer-sponsored Migrante M Trabajador visa (older guides call it TP-4). Colombia's digital nomad visa is for remote work for foreign companies and does not allow paid work with people or companies in Colombia, so it is not a route for local teaching or private classes. Confirm your own situation with the Cancillería.
