Teach English in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Capital city with the largest public-school ESL program in the UAE.
Abu Dhabi's public system runs one of the largest organised English programmes in the Gulf, and that changes the character of the job: intakes, structured placement and a posting you may not choose, against the private sector's school-by-school variability. Schools cluster in the city and in Al Ain, an inland university town roughly ninety minutes away with a very different pace. Pay tracks Dubai closely; housing allowances and whether accommodation is provided are where the packages actually differ.
Neighborhoods
Al Reem and Al Raha for newer buildings and most teacher housing. The Corniche and central island for walkable city living at a premium. Khalifa City for family space near the international schools. Al Ain as a genuinely separate posting rather than a commute.
Cost of living
Roughly 3,500 to 8,000 AED a month for a one-bedroom, marginally under Dubai. The same annual-rent-in-cheques structure applies, so a provided flat is worth more than an equivalent allowance.
Best for
Licensed teachers wanting public-sector structure and stability over private-school variability, who can accept being placed rather than choosing.

Salary: K-12 licensed teachers: 12k to 22k AED per month, often with housing or 50k to 90k AED yearly housing allowance. Adult ESL at universities and centers: 8k to 14k AED. Add airfare, end-of-service gratuity, and health insurance to most packages.
